It is a natural habit for any consumer to try to compare services and price of one company to another. Dealing with the funeral industry it is even more uncomfortable to do so. When families try to compare funeral homes many times the only known fact is facility. The consumer may have been inside the funeral home for a service. To find costs it is very difficult because the funeral homes do not price or package in the same manner.
The Chicago Consumer Checkbook Magazine asked their readers and sent questioners to funeral home users asking specific questions on services. Then Posing as inquiring families, the Chicago Consumer Checkbook asked funeral directors for specific cost of services and merchandise. This is an easy way for families to compare apple and apple costs and service and quality of one funeral home to another. Few (3or 4) funeral homes received 100% approval from the families they served. Suerth Funeral Home received 100% approval and was judged excellent quality for service. |
