Thomas M. Cashin of Egg Harbor, WI passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Aurora Bay Care Health Center in Green Bay. Beloved husband for 44 years to Paula D. nee Urek. Loving father of Kimberly A. (James) Walker of Mc Henry, IL and Susan M. (Christopher) Bishop of Chicago, IL. Proud grandfather of Lily S. Walker. Dear brother of Cathleen (Dale) Coerver of Hendersonville, NC, Timothy (Marilyn) Cashin of Algonquin, IL and Patricia (Carl) Ullrich of Minocqua, WI. Fond brother-in-law of James (Karen) Urek, Bernadette (Len) Cudzilo. Fond uncle of Cathleen Gillies, Chris Cudzilo, Steven Cudzilo, Ben Urek, Megan Urek, Matt Urek, Christine Cashin, Julie Ullrich and the late Andy Ullrich. Dearest friend of John and Colette Loecke. Tom was born in Chicago, IL on October 17, 1942 and moved to Rolling Meadows, IL. After graduating in 1960 from Arlington Heights High School in Arlington Heights, IL he received a B.A. in Political Science from Northern Illinois University (1966) and a M.S. in Business Management from Aurora University (1990). At NIU Tom was on the Student Association Board in his senior year. After graduating from NIU Tom went to work for the Investigations Division of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management as a federal investigator. When the division was privatized he worked for the new company, USIS, and also was the employee representative on the USIS Board of Directors. He worked as an investigator and supervisory investigator for 35 years in the Chicago Metropolitan area. Tom retired to the Village of Egg Harbor, WI on the Door County Peninsula on April 1, 2001. He briefly worked as a proofreader for the Door County Advocate. He was a member of the Door County Sail & Power Squadron and was their Executive Officer for a number of years. He also was on the Village of Egg Harbor Board of Appeals. Tom enjoyed reading, boating, snorkeling, making delicious fruit jellies and entertaining his family and friends with his many funny stories. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, at the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Hwy., Chicago from 3 pm – 8 pm. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, March 10, at 10:30 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago, 1440 W.
