MAHONEY Michael P. Mahoney, 63, Captain, Chicago Fire Department, retired. Beloved husband of 41 years to Mariann . Loving father of Maureen (Paul) Russell, Patricia, Michael (Jodi) and Erin (Jason) Stachura. Proud grandfather of Katherine and Alison Mahoney and PopPop to Xavier Stachura. Dear brother of Patrick (Linda), Joseph (Patricia), John (Kathleen), Daniel (Margaret) and William (Carolyn) Mahoney. Mr. Mahoney completed an apprenticeship with the Plumbers Union, Local 130A in 1972 and began his distinguished 33 year career with the Chicago Fire Department. He spent the last nine years of his tenure at Engine 26. Mr. Mahoney spent much of his time educating the public on Citizen Emergency Response Team. He retired to Goodyear, Arizona in 2003. Leisure time was spent golfing with his buddies where he always said he’d rather be lucky than good. Visitation Monday from 2 until 9 PM at The M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago. Funeral Tuesday 9:30 AM prayers at the funeral home to Saint Thecla Church. Mass 10 AM. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
